World Map of Races

Following this essay and (approximately) this classification of races, I have created a world map of human races today. There are hardly any such maps to be found today (most were created in the age of imperialism in the 19th and early 20th century).

Three notes: First, the distinction between the lighter and darker Caucasians is not easy to make. There are gradual shifts from Scandinavia to the Arab peninsula and it is impossible to draw a clear border. For this map, I have included all regions as Xantochroi where there is a prevalence of light eyes of at least 10% of the population. I know this is not scientific at all, but if you want to argue about who is white or not, please read this post first.
Second, there is a recent theory that there was a first wave of settlement in the Americas even before the current Native Americans. These "Paleoamericans" were probably related to the larger Australoid race and are often identified with the Fuegian natives. However, this is not an established theory yet.
Third, I have made a distinction between the Pygmies of Africa and other Black peoples. There is no convincing genetic evidence that they are something completely different (although there seems to have been an early separation), but it might make sense when considering that race is a social construct anyway (as in: it's impossible to make scientifically sound racial categories).
So, as always regarding race, please take this map with a grain of salt - although I believe it is superior to all the other maps you might find on the Internet, which are often more than 100 years old.

  1. Good article and very well donde map, i agree race is actually not scientific at all but rather cultural, also many racial categories can be very ambiguous.

Regarding the map, again very well done and informative, but still i wonder how did you made the boundaries on the skin color thing?, what is exactly Tanned and Brown, how to differentiate these two?...

An important mistake (probably not so much for many people) on the map: The southern portion of the country Paraguay, without a doubt should be marked as Mestizo (purple) instead of Amerind (blue), it is the most populated part of the country (the northern part is almost inhabited) if you check demographical maps of each country such as population, density, etc...; The people there even phenotypically lean more towards the european side, but marking the country as mestizo still would be fine, and also the northern part of Argentina closer to Paraguay would be marked as such at the same time, there is a gradual continuum within territories/boundaries as in many parts of the world too.

And aren't Syrians and Lebanese the same people, or very close phenotypically? The former should be marked as Europoid (red) as well?

The map is so far the best i've ever seen on the internet, i really would like to see an enhanced version of this map, i.e. the same map with apparently minor but important corrections (such as the two i've mentioned) corrected... and probably there are even more minor/lesser important mistakes to be corrected.

I apologyse if I my english is not so clear.
    Regards.

    1. Hey, thank you for your feedback!

Regarding the boundaries, I mainly used skin colour maps as you can find them on Google Images, Wikipedia etc. These maps don't exactly agree with each other, so I tried to find a "consensus". As for the colours itself, you could imagine Fair = Northern European, Tanned = Chinese or Southern European, Brown = Indian, Dark = Black People.

Thanks for your suggestions, I have changed the colours in Paraguay and Syria. Obviously I haven't been to all places in the world, so my map is more or less based on other maps, such as eye/hair/skin colour maps or those old racial maps from the early 20th century and the Soviet Union. Especially the distinction between European and Middle Eastern was difficult to make, because there is no clear border, but then again it would also be weird to group a guy from Yemen and a guy from Iceland together. So I'm happy about every suggestion and pointing out mistakes!

    2. Yemenese and South Arabians are darker than North Indians. This map is bogus and needs revision. Imran Abbas is a Sindhi and Osama was from Saudi Arabia. You tell me who is lighter from the two.

    4. Does it occur to you that North Indians are lighter than Yemenese. Bollywood actors come under the north Indian category. Who looks lighter Hritik Roshan or Osama Bin Laden.

  2. Hi cool map! Ive been looking for one and nit because im racist im just curios! As to how would a "typical" person look like, some suggestion as a filipino I do know that filipinos are a niz race by ourselves being native pacif islander chinese and spanish and it would be hard to have a census in the philippines about our race, nect is indonesia and malaysia I do yhink they have a seperate race aka austranesian or pacific islander and mailand S.E.A hoWEVER JUST LIKE IT THAI WERE THE INdiginous were negriod aouthern chinese people have displaced and mix woth them so as in other aouth east asia as acreating a MIX chinese pacific islander look, next is in south asia I do think the southern part which is dravidians the natives are dark and I do think there not as mix and ive known some who did not look your typical south asia dark mix, when it comes with the melanchrio white I do feel as if they need to be split in half cause the majority if people in iran for example are armeniod subrace and that they most likely have some gene5ic influence from asians and probably australiods as oppose to the arabs which clearly in there population have blaclk and eypgt took in slaves thousand of years ago so did the arabs and according tto aljazeera tunisia is 15 percent black, now the iranian people of armejia paki afghan azer georgia woyld have had less genetic mixing with black and more with asians like mongol conquest and probably native indian aka dravidian now in afghan ai do think base on the book diversity amid globalization they said the ethnic hazaras are east asian looking and manybare so as the afghan uzbeks however the afghan tajiks accord to wiki are more caucasian looking than tajiks in tajikistan plus so are paahtun and baloch and last one in america you can make green for example multicultural places like NY CITY amd yeah the pacific island are aka pacific islander and indont think they are sundaniod just southern china and mailand aouth east asia can you please please make a map based on this info? Please that would be aewsome

    1. The map is retarded since I saw Sindh had melanochroi and ASI levels for them are almost similar to Pashtuns on genetic stats. Also why is Yemen and South Arabia full Caucasoid when its clear from common sense they're mixed people who many times do not even have straight hair.

    2. Balochi are darker than Northern Punjabis and also very semite looking too. Kashmiris are lighter than Sindhis but genetically have more ASI in their genes.

  5. What a stupid map I saw Sindh in melanochroi on another map and this one shows it mixed. Why is is that genetically Sindhi have less ASI than Kashmiris but Kashmiris are lighter? Also has that fool travelled to Yemen and South Arabia before? Many of them do not even have straight hair there.
